In 1930 Maurice John O'Donnell, storekeeper, and wife Margaret O'Donnell, were in Emmaville.
-----------------------------
Maurice O'Donnell became a mine manager for his father.
Maurice managed the store in Emmaville from 1917 until his own health failed in 1829, due indirectly to the effects of malaria. The Glen Innes Examiner 3 October 1829 recorded the change. "Due to the deterioration of the health of Maurice O'Donnell, the store will be managed by A. D. O'Donnell. This makes 3 successive generations who have managed the store." A. D. O'Donnell was Maurice's son Arthur. He married and his mismanagement of the store nearly broke his father.
In the Glen Innes Examiner, March 9 1933, the following appeared. " Closing down sale Assigned Estate Sale of stock from White House Store. " Did the depression catch up? After Maurice's death in October 1933, the store was managed by Maurice's wife, Margaret and daughter Alma, ran the store until Alma's death in 1935. Thereafter it was run by Margaret and her daughter-in-law Hilda until 1950 when Margaret died. Edward and Hilda O'Donnell ran it for a while then sold it. 4
