At the time of the 1881 England Census Francis Legge, aged 16, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, was with his parents at 55 Thomas St., St. Anne Limehouse London.

In February 1891 Francis William Legge was present at the marriage of his sister Eliza Martha Susan Legge to William Charles Coates in Tower Hamlets London.

At the time of the 1891 England Census Thomas* W Legge, aged 24, born in Wootton Wiltshire, sulphur maker, and Mary A., aged 23, born in London City, were living at 3 Redriff Rd., West Ham Essex. With them was son Francis W.* (1) of London City.

* These are errors and should be Francis W and Francis H respectively.

At the time of the 1911 England Census Francis W Legge, aged 45, born in Woodd Vasant [Wootton Bassett], firewood dealer (own account), and wife of 19* years Mary A., aged 43, born in Oxford (mother of 12 children, 2 deceased) were living at 65 May Rd., West Ham Essex. With them were children Horice Y (19) of Essex, labourer, and born in Poplar Maud A. M. (17), Tomas J. (15), Young S. (10), and born in Essex Voilet E. (7), Lily L. (5), Harry G. (3) and Rose L. (2).

* This is the age of the eldest listed child, Horace. Francis and Mary Ann had been married for about 21 years.

In the 1939 Register Francis W Legge (b. 3 Oct 1865), retired general labourer, and wife Mary A. (b. 13 Sep 1866), unpaid domestic duties, were living at 65 May Road, West Ham, Essex.
