"OBITUARY
ME. H. H. WHITING
The death occurred In Wagga yesterday morning of a very respected resident, Mr. Henry Hasson Whiting, of 122 Tarcutta-street, Wagga, after a short illness, at the age of 67 years. 'Tim' Whiting, as he was affectionately known to his friends, came to Wagga more than 30 years ago under engagement to his cousin, tbe late Mark Mongan, in whose hair-dressing saloon he worked for a number of years. During the time he was on that staff, when the business was conducted under the Commercial Hotel, he won a large measure of popularity among clients of the firm and the public generally. He was a member of a well-known Marrickvlile (Sydney) family, and one sister, Miss Eva Whiting, distinguished herself as a soprano singer. Although partially crippled as a result of an accident when a very young boy, Mr Whiting wae a thorough-going sportsman, deeply interested in various branches of sport. As a young man he wae a keen student of racing, and followed with much interest cricket and football. He always took a very active part in the management of sports carnivals in conjunction with Mr. Thomas Hare? and the late Messrs. Tom O'Farrell and William Archer. Of late years he became a bus proprietor and was a well known and familiar figure in the streets of Wagga. When he took up residence in Wagga he resided at the guest nouse conducted by the late Mr. and Mrs John Hely in Tarcutta-street, and he was popular with about 20 other fellow boarders. In those early days there were two clubs in Tarcutta-street, one known as the Murrumbidgee Pirates, of which Mr Whiting was a member, and many readers will recall the exploits of this club in boating, fishing and shooting. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Messrs John Henry (Bill), of Moorong-street, Wagga, Thomas Francis, Walter Frederick and Charles Hely Whiting, all of Tarcutta street, Wagga; one daughter, Miss Elaine Mary (Nell) Whiting, of Tarcutta-street, Wagga; two brothers Messrs. Charles and Michael Whiting, of Sydney; and two sisters, Mrs. Woolford and Miss. Mary Whiting, of Ashbury, Sydney. The late Mr. Whiting was a member of St. Michael's branch of the Holy Name Society, a foundation member of the Catholic Young Men's Club, and a member of the committee of the St. Patrick's Day Racing Club. He was also a very old member of the I.O.O.F Lodge, Wagga, and members are requested to attend his funeral, which will leave St. Michael's Cathedral at 10.30 o'clock this morning for the Wagga cemetery." 4
