Elizabeth Hannah HELY

  • Born: 11 Mar 1857, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia 3
  • Married: 8 Jul 1885, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia 1 2
  • Died: 29 Dec 1911, "Rosella, " Tarcutta-street, Wagga, N.S.W., Australia 4

  Research Notes:

"Mrs. Elizabeth Hannah Krust passed away quietly yesterday at 11.15 a.m., after a long and painful illness. The decease took place at "Rosella," Tarcutta-street Wagga, the residenc of her daughter, Mrs W. Cook. Mrs. Krust was in her fifty-fifth year at the hour of her death, and was a native of Wagga, being the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs. J. T. Hely. In the old days, and when a girl, Lizzie Hely was a prime favorite. Some twenty-eight years back, Mr J..J. Krust, of Ryde, claimed the subject of our sketch, and she resided there until her husband's death about twelve years ago. The widow then returned to Wagga and capably conducted a private boarding bouse until her health made it impossible to carry on the business. Two years back the lady underwent a serious and painful operation, and since then has suffered severely. The sufferer was at all times cheerful, and bore her cross with Christian fortitude to the end. In the seventies and early eighties of last century ''Lizzie Hely" was a bright girl, universally beloved, and when near her end the aged pioneers of town and district visited her in numbers, linking the past and present of Wagga together, and showing that the bonny girl of the early days had not been forgotten. The deceased leaves two daughters to mourn their loss, namely, Mrs W. Cook, of "Rosella" Tarcutta-street, Wagga, and Miss Lillie Krust, whe resides at Cootamundra. The latter, although having paid several visits to her suffering parent lately, was not present at the end. Great sympathy is felt for the aged parents of the deceased, who attended her bedside almost unceasingly when the end was near. Sad though the death be, it was for the patient sufferer a happy release, for none can tell how hard her lot was to bear. The remains will be laid to rest this afrernoon, the cortege leaving "Rosella'' at 3 p.m." 5
