At the time of the 1851 England Census Benjamin Horton, aged 26, born in Camberwell Surrey, wine merchant, and wife Mary, aged 29, born in Heathfield Sussex, were living Christ Church Rd., Streatham Surrey. With them was son Benj. (3) of Camberwell.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Benjamin Horton, aged 47, born in Camberwell Surrey, married, hop factor, was at 4 Kings Rd., Camberwell. With him was son Alfred Henry (18) of Camberwell, clerk to a brewer.

At the time of the 1881 England Census Benjamin Horton, aged 57, born in Camberwell Surrey, widower, hop factor, was visiting Thomas W Alden, fundholder, on Greyhound Farm, Godstone Surrey.
