At the time of the 1861 England Census Robert Horton, aged 66, born in Hooe Sussex, unmarried, farmer of 347 acres employing 18 men & 4 boys, was living on Pelsham Farm, Peasmarsh Sussex. With him was aunt Mary Blackman (84) of Hooe Sussex, unmarried.
