At the time of the 1881 England Census William Newick, age 24, born in Ticehurst Sussex, agricultural labourer, and wife Harriett, age 25, born in Burwash Sussex, were living in Silver Hill, Saleshurst Sussex. Present were daughter Eleanor (1) of Burwash, brother-in-law Archie Sands (6) of Etchingham.

At the time of the 1891 England Census William Newick, age 34, born in Ticehurst Sussex, carter, and wife Harriett, age 35, born in Burwash Sussex, were living in Rounds Cottage, Wadhurst Sussex. With them were children (a) born in Burwash: Eleanor L. (11), Florance A. (8), and (b) William T. (5) of Etchingham, Caroline E. (3) of Mayfield, and Harriett E. (3 months).

At the time of the 1901 England Census William Newick, age 44, born in Ticehurst Sussex, carter on farm, and wife Harriett, age 45, born in Burwash Sussex, were living in Bainden New Cottages, Mayfield Sussex. With them were children William (15) of Etchingham, carter boy on farm, Caroline (13) of Mayfield, Harriet (10) of Wadhurst, Edith (4) of Etchingham.

At the time of the 1911 Census William Newick, age 54, born in Ticehurst, waggoner on farm, married, was living at Hayselden Villas Cranbrook. With him were daughters Eleanor (31) and Edith (14), as well as niece Doris Newick (4) of Mayfield.

SISSINGHURST

OLD RESIDENT'S DEATH. — The death occurred on Sunday, in his 82nd year, of Mr. William Walter Newick, of 3, Hope Cottages. A native of Sussex, Mr. Newick came to reside in the district 28 years ago, and for some years he was a jobbing gardener. Mrs. Newick died in 1921. There are five daughters, one of whom is in Canada, and a son, who is in New Zealand. The funeral took place at Sissinghurst on Wednesday, when the service was read by the Vicar, the Rev. T. S. Porterfield, and a Methodist Minister, the Rev. W. J. Paradine Frost, of Tenterden. Immediate mourners were Mrs. Hicks, Mrs. Humphrey, Mrs. Rogers and Miss Newick (daughters), Mr. W.
