At the time of the 1851 England Census Henry Chrismas, aged 53, born in Heathfield Sussex, unmarried, farmer of 420 acres employing 16 men, was living in Foords Heathfield. With him was father Thomas Chrismas (83) of Mountfield Sussex, widower, retired farmer.
In 1854 Henry Chrismas and his brother Thomas Chrismas were co-executors and residuary legatees of the Will of their uncle John Blackman of Warbleton, gent.

By the said Will certain other property (marshland) in Herstmonceux was devised to the testator's cousin John Blackman of Hove, and a cottage in Warbleton to his workman William Catt for life with remainder to nephew Charles Chrismas, who died in testator's lifetime.
