Abstract of the Will of Hugh Evans of Machynlleth in the County of Montgomery, Grocer, written 14 Jun 1733, proved 5 Dec 1733.

Gives, devises & bequeaths to his eldest son Evan Evans all his messuages, lands & tenements in the parish of Tal y Llyn in county Meirionydd, and all his messuages, lands & tenements in the parish of Machynlleth in county Montgomery, with the exception of the house he now lives, which he gives & bequeaths to his wife Mary.

Gives & bequeaths to his second son Hugh Evans all his messuages, lands & tenements in the parish of St. Harmon in county Radnor, once he reaches the age of 21 years, the accrued interest paid to him yearly until then. If Hugh dies without issue, then the said land &c. shall revert to his eldest brother Evan and his heirs.

Gives & bequeaths £200 to his eldest daughter Ann Evans, once she reaches the age of 21 years or is married, at which time she shall be paid £100 of the principal sum, the residue [the remaining £100] to be paid and settled by good and sufficient settlement.... , The accrued interest of the principal sum is paid to her yearly until then.

Gives & bequeaths £200 to his daughter Susanna Evans, once she reaches the age of 21 years or is married...., the accrued interest paid to her yearly until then.

Gives & bequeaths £200 to his youngest daughter Mary Evans, once she reaches the age of 21 years or is married...., the accrued interest paid to her yearly until then....

Gives & bequeaths 40 shillings to his godson Evan the son of Isaac Evans.

Gives & bequeaths 50 shillings each to his friends John Owen of Pant Glas and Isaac Evans Gent., and appoints them overseers of his last will and testament.

Gives, devises & bequeaths to his eldest son and heir apparent Evan Evans one house and garden, with barns & stables in the town of Machynlleth, liable to the payment of an annuity of £2 7s. for the term of her natural life.

All the rest & residue of his personal estate he gives & bequeaths to his wife Mary and to his youngest daughter Mary, whom he constitutes & appoints co-executrices of his last will and testament....
