Abstract of the Will of Peter Meyrick of Ruthin in the County of Denbigh, Esquire, written 18 Oct 1630, proved 30 Jan 1631. 2

His body to be buried in the churchyard of St. Peters in Ruthin.

Gives 20 shillings toward the reparation of the said church of St. Peters.

Item. Gives 20 shillings toward the reparation of Corwen's church.

Item. Gives 20 shillings toward the reparation of the church of Gwithelwerne.

Item. Gives & bequeaths to the poor of the above parishes 20 shillings each.

Item. Gives 20 shillings toward the reparation of Corwen's bridge.

Item. Gives 40 shillings toward the re-edifying of Alwen Bridge.

Item. Devises and confirms on Ellin his wife an estate consisting of all his messuages, lands and tenements in Tyrith S----- Llanrhros and Bodynharad, together with the reversion of his messuages, lands and tenements in Tibrith Llanrhwst and Spittu.

He wills that if his son Edmund Meyrick shall pay to Mr Robert Peyrs gent. £108 and one bond of £200 to his executrix by 30 Nov 1631, then he devises & bequeaths the reversion of all his lands in Tibrith Spitu and Llanrhwst to his said son Edmund and his heirs forever.

Gives & devises to his said son Edmund and his heirs the lordship of Gwythelwerne with all his fee farms, rents due to him in the Hundred of Edernion.

Gives & devises to his son Rowland Meyrick all his messuages and tenements in Nantlidioge in the county of Merioneth called Ffrydd y Wen now in the possession of William ap Rees Lloyd, together with the reversion of all his messuages and tenements in Bodynharad after the death of his wife.

Gives & devises all his estate and the interest of the messuages or tenements called Havod Aunwydoge? in Penllin, part of the hereditament of William Price of Rhywlas Esquire which messuages have continued in his [Peter's] possession for the past 36 years at the rent of £6 until about 2 years ago....

Item. Gives & bequeaths all his stock in the said tenement to Ellin his wife, being about 50 head of beast of the kind of meat and a hundred sheep more or less, for the maintenance and upbringing of his grandchild Peter Meyrick for seven years after his decease.

Item. Gives & bequeaths to each of his grandchildren one beast to the value of 20 shillings together with six sheep a piece to the like value.

Item. Gives & bequeaths to his son Rowland Meyrick sixty sheep and the rest of his cattle.

Item. Gives & bequeaths to his son Edmund Meyrick all his household stuff remaining in Ucheldre along with six oxen there and his implements of husbandry.

Nominates and appoints his wife Ellin sole executrix of his last will and testament.

Appoints William Salisbury of Rug Esquire and Edmund Meyrick his son as overseers of his last will and testament.

Peter married Lowry Lewis Anwyl, daughter of Lewes Anwill of Llanfrothen, Gent. and Elizabeth ferch Morys ab Ieuan. (Lowry Lewis Anwyl was born in Parc, Llanfrothen, Merioneth, Wales and died before 1630 in Ucheldre, Gwyddelwern, Merioneth, Wales.)

  Marriage Information:

Peter also married Ellin [Price] before 1630. (Ellin died in 1644.)
