Will of Edward Humphreys of Aberdeunant in the Parish of Llandeckwyn in the County of Merioneth, Gent., written 16 May 1776, proved 21 Aug 1779. 4

In the Name of God Amen. I Edward Humphreys of Aberdeunant in the Parish of Llandeckwyn in the County of Merioneth and in the Diocess of Bangor Gent. Do make and ordain this my present last will and Testament, in manner and form following.

Imprimis. I give leave and bequeath unto my Son Richard the Sum of Two shillings and Six pence.

Item. I give leave and bequeath unto my Son Humphrey the Sum of Ten pounds payable to him, when he is one and twenty years of Age.

Item. I give leave and bequeath unto my Daughter Ellinor, the Sum of Fifteen pounds, payable to her at one and Twenty years of Age.

Item. I give leave and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane, the Sum of Fifteen pounds payable to her at one and Twenty years of Age.

Item. I give leave and bequeath unto my Brother in Law Lewis Griffith, and my Nephew William Humphreys the Sum of Ten Shillings, and do desire them to be overseers to this, my last Will and Testament, and to see that all things herein mentioned may be performed, according to my meaning.

All the rest and residue of my personal Estate, Goods and Chattels whatsoever, I do give and Bequeath unto my Son Lewis, and to be joint Executor, with my Wife Gwen Executrix of this my last will and Testament. And I do hereby revoke, disannul, and make void all former will or wills, Testament or Testaments by me heretofore made.

In Wittness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Sixteenth day of May in the year of our Lord God one Thousand Seven hundred and Seventy Six.

August 21st 1779. The within written Will was insinuated, proved, approved, and decreed valid in common form of Law and Administration granted to the Executrix therein named. She being first personally sworn as the Law Directs. Every one's right being saved and reserved before me

In 1779 Edward Humphrey of Aberdainant, yeoman, is named in the Will of his brother-in-law Lewis Griffith of Pwllheli in Deneio in county Caernarvon, inn holder as husband of Lewis's sister Gwen and father of Ellin Humphreys (eldest daughter), Lewis Humphreys (youngest son), Jane Humphreys (second daughter), Richard Humphreys (eldest son) and Humphrey Humphreys (second son).

  Marriage Information:

Edward married Gwen Griffith in Feb 1749/50 in Llandecwyn, Merioneth, Wales. (Gwen Griffith was buried on 4 May 1808 in Llandecwyn, Merioneth, Wales.)
