In 1871 Elizabeth Picking (29) of Fenton, dressmaker, was at home with her parents at 11 Herbert St., Fenton. With her were her natural-born children Eliza A. Picking (6) and Harry Picking (7 mo) [Harry Picking, whose birth was registered under the name Harry Leech Picking, was probably the son of Ira Leech born before he married Harry's mother. The same Harry Leech was aged 10 at the time of the 1881 Census (below).
In 1881 Elizabeth Leech (39) of Hanley Staffordsh. and husband Ira Leech (35) of Newcastle Staffordsh., annuitant, were living at 24 Herbert St., Stoke-upon-Trent, Staffordshire. Present were Elizabeth's daughter Eliza A. Pickering [Picking] (15) of Fenton Staffordsh., dressmaker, Ira's son Harry Leech (10) of Fenton, scholar. Elizabeth's brother Thomas Picking and his family were at 21 Herbert St.
In 1891 Elizabeth Leech (49) of Hanley Staffordshire and husband Ira Leech (45) of Newcastle Stafffordshire, retired cheese factor, were living at 24 Herbert St., Stoke-upon-Trent, Staffordshire. Present were children (born in Fenton): Harry Leech (20), china decorator, Eliza A. Picking (25), dressmaker, Alfred A. Leech (8), (Elizabeth's brother Thomas Picking and his family were at 21 Herbert St.
In 1901 Elizabeth Leech (59) of Hanley and husband Ira Leech (55) of Newcastle, coal ---?---, were living at 1 Wallington St., Fenton Staffordshire. Present were son Alfred A. Leech (18) of Fenton, apprentice fitter, and Elizabeth's daughter Eliza A. Pickin (25) of Fenton, dressmaker
