At the time of the 1861 England Census Caroline Cooper, age 39, born in London, and husband Henry Cooper, age 41, born in Botly Hants, tailor [employing] 2 men, were living at 38 Bernard St., Southampton St. Mary, Hampshire. With them were [Henry's] children (born in Southampton): Henry (6), scholar, and Jane (2).
After the 1861 Census, Caroline understates her age by about a decade.
At the time of the 1871 England Census Caroline Cooper, age 41 [sic], born in London, and husband Henry Cooper, age 41 [sic], born in Botley Hampshire, agent, were living at 5 Middle Portland Terrace, Southampton St. Mary, Hamsphire. With them were daughters Mary* (12) and Caroline (7), both born in Southampton.
* Mary was Henry's daughter from his previous marriage.
At the time of the 1881 England Census Caroline Cooper, age 50 [sic], born in London Middlesex, widow, school mistress, was living at 5 Middle Portland Terrace, Southampton St. Mary, Hamsphire. With her was daughter Caroline M (18) of Southampton Hants, scholar.
In 1889 Mrs. Caroline Cooper was living in School, 8 Havelock Terrace (Kelly's Directory).
At the time of the 1891 England Census Caroline Cooper, age 60 [sic], born in London Middlesex, widow, lodging house keeper, was living at 8 Havelock Terrace, All Saints Southampton Hampshire. With her were daughter Caroline M (23) of Southampton, lodging house helper, and 4 boarders.
