At the time of the 1901 England Census Mercy Holter, age 16, born in Westham, single, was working as a general domestic servant for James Green, twine manufacturer, in Melbourne Villa, Hailsham St. Mary, Sussex.
In Sep 1907 Mercy Holter was a witness at the marriage of her brother John Holter to Emily Mercy Jane Roberts in Brighton.
At the time of the 1911 England Census Mercy Holter, age 26, born in Hankham, was working as a parlour maid for William Richard Stephens and his wife Mary at 16 Grange Road, Eastbourne, Sussex.
In the 1939 Register Mercy Field (b. 14 Mar 1885), widowed, unpaid domestic duties, was living at 16 Broad Road, Lower Willingdon, Sussex. At the same address was [son] Frank T Field (b. 14 Nov 1911), single, bus driver.
