At the time of the 1891 England Census Mary Potter, aged 88, born in Hellingly Sussex, widow, was with her son Frederick J Potter and his family at 102 Albion St., Southwick Sussex.

SOUTHWICK.
FUNERAL.—The funeral of Mrs. Mary Potter, widow of the late Mr. Henry Potter, Relieving Officer, of Hailsham, took place at Southwick yesterday. The coffin, which was covered with black cloth, bore the inscription "Mary Potter, died 25th January, aged 89 years."
