Present were children: Agnes H. (5) of Glasgow Lanarkshire, Thomas (2) of Girvan. Son William (8) was visiting his paternal grandparents.
At the time of the 1871 Scotland Census, William Brown, aged 48, born in Ayr, inn keeper, and wife Jane, aged 42, born in Dalmellington, were living at 12 Bridge St., Dalmellington, Ayrshire. With them were children: William (18) of Glasgow, Agnes H. (15) of Glasgow, Mary A. (8) of Girvan Ayrshire, Jane (3) of Dalmellington.
