In 1861 William was the sole executor of his mother's Will.

In 1871 William Horsell, aged 55, born in Brinkworth Wilts, farmer (of 50 acres), and wife Sarah, aged 54, born in Brinkworth, were living in Dolicars Green, Brinkworth. Present were children (born in Brinkworth): Henry (29), Sarah B. (25), Nathan R. (19). William's cousin, Abraham Horsell, was living nextdoor.

In 1881 William Horsell, aged 63, born in Brinkworth Wilts, farmer of 40 acres, and wife Sarah, aged 68, born in Broad Hinton Wilts, were living in Brinkworth. Present were son Nathan R (28) of Brinkworth, farmer's son, and grandson Gilbert Bishop (4) of Brinkworth.

In 1891 William Horsell, aged 76, born in Brinkworth Wilts, widower, farmer, was living in Sunday's Hill, Brinkworth. With him were grandchildren Geraldine Eyles (21) of Fayham? Wilts, single, housekeeper, Henry A Eyles (14) of Fayham?, agricultural labourer, and Gilbert Bishop (14) of Brinkworth, agricultural labourer. Son Nathan R Horsell and his family were living in West End Farm adjoining.
