At the time of the 1891 England Census Joseph Emery, aged 32, born in Portsmouth Hants, bricklayer's carter, and wife Emma J., aged 29, born in Portsmouth, were living at 25 Guildford St., Portsea Hants. With them were children (born in Portsmouth): Nellie (3) and William F. (1).
At the time of the 1901 England Census Joseph Emery, aged 40, born in Portsmouth Hants, general labourer, and wife Emma J, aged 39, born in Topsham Devon, were living at 73 Northam Street, Portsmouth. With them was son William R F (11) of Portsmouth.
