  Research Notes:

In 1671 Richard Pearce was appointed sole executor of his father's will, then underage. Richard left his father's goods &c unadminstered, Administration being finally granted to Richard's widow Mary Pendarves (formerly Pearce) in 1750.

In 1693 Richard Pearce of Penzance, Gent. was nominated as a trustee of the will of his father-in-law John Borlase of Pendeen, Gent.

2) Richard Pearce of Penzance, gentleman.

Bargain and sale, 1) to 2), Kerris, alias Kerris Meor, Paul.

Consideration: £1300 and security to pay £20 per annum to Margaret Hicks, widow and £35 per annum to Ann Hicks.

Abstract of the Will of Richard Pearce of Kerris in the County of Cornwall, Gentleman, written 10 Jun 1696, proved 11 Mar 1698/9. 3

Gives £5 to the poor of the town of Penzance.

Gives 50 shillings to the poor of the parish of Paul.

Gives 50 shillings to the poor of the parish of St. Just.

Gives £200 to his brother Wm Pearce, being over and above what he has already given him to secure an apprenticeship, releasing and discharging his executors of and from the legacy given him by the last will and testament of their father, William Pearce now deceased.

Gives £300 to his brother Duke Pearce, to be paid to him when he turns twenty one. Gives Duke an additional annuity of £7 during his minority, releasing and discharging his executors of and from the legacy given him by the last will and testament of their father, William Pearce....

Gives £200 to his sister Elizabeth Pearce, to be paid to her within six months after her marriage, she releasing and discharging his executors of and from the legacy given her by their father. In the meantime she shall have the interest on said legacy for her maintenance.

Gives £200 to his sister Grace Pearce, to be paid to her within six months after her marriage, she releasing and discharging his executors of and from the legacy given her by their father. In the meantime she shall have the interest on said legacy for her maintenance.

Gives £200 to his sister Mary Pearce, to be paid to her within six months after her marriage, she releasing and discharging his executors of and from the legacy given her by their father. In the meantime she shall have the interest on said legacy for her maintenance, causing the conditional bond he gave to his uncle Thomas Pearce to be cancelled by the testator's executors.

Gives to his wife the bed and furniture in his chamber at Kerris, with two pair of sheets, pillows and pillow cases, along with the use of the place during her widowhood.

Gives to his wife the interest on £100 during her widowhood.

Gives to his son Richard Pearce and his heirs male his Barton of Kerris and the two tenements there. Also gives to his son Richard his tin bounds within the county of Cornwall.

Gives £300 to his daughter Isabella, to be paid to her when she turns twenty-one. In the meantime she is to receive an annuity of £10 for her maintenance.

Gives £300 to his daughter Mary, to be paid to her when she turns twenty-one. In the meantime she is to receive an annuity of £10 for her maintenance.

Gives to his wife Mary Pearce, his brother-in-law John Borlase, Gent, his uncle Thomas Pearce, his uncle Richd. Bennett, his brother Wm. Pearce, and his friends Henry Pendarves, Clerk, Nicholas Boson the younger, Gent, and Oliver Ustick, Gent, his messuages, lands, tenements and hereditaments (with the exception of his Barton of Kerris), in trust, to pay his debts and legacies out of the proceeds, appointing them co-executors of his last will and testament.

  Marriage Information:

Richard married Mary Borlase, daughter of John Borlase of Pendeen, Esq. and Mary Keigwin, on 29 Dec 1692 in St. Just in Penwith, Cornwall. (Mary Borlase was christened 5 Dec 1669 in St. Just in Penwith, Cornwall and was buried on 6 Jan 1759 in Paul, Cornwall.)
