In 1653 John Hicks was a beneficiary of the will of his uncle Walter Burlace of Paul, receiving £60.

In 1664 Mr. John Hickes of Paul paid tax on 4 hearths.

In 1693 John Hicks and Henry Pendarves, vicar of Paul, took inventory of the goods & chattels of Mary Cowling of Paul, spinster, John's sister-in-law.

John Hicks late of the parish of Paul, Gent. died without making a will. Administration of his goods &c. was granted 4 Sep 1707 to Katherine wife of William Rogers, daughter of the said deceased. Bondsmen: William Rogers of St. Mary's in co. Cornwall, Gent, Alex: Rowe of the borough of Helston and Nath: Hosken of Wendron. ²
