William Hicks, son of Nicholas, of St. Paule, Cornwall, gent. Wadham College, matriculated 9 March, 1637-8, aged 17; a captain in the trained bands, and became very forward against those of the loyal party; baptised at Paul 2 Jan., 1620-1, and buried in the parish church of St. Paul aforesaid 3 March, 1659. 2

In 1632 William Hicks was a beneficiary of his father's will, receiving his lands, tenements and hereditaments in the parish of St. Just in Penwith, as well as his lands, tenements and hereditaments called Trevithall in the parish of Paul.
In Mar 1641/2 William Hicks of Paul took the Protestation Oath.
In January 1648/9 William Hickes of Paul in co. Cornwall, Gent. was a bondsman for the Administration of the goods &c. of his brother-in-law Thomas Clyes of Madron, Gent.
In 1653 William Hicks was a beneficiary of the will of his uncle Walter Burlace of Paul, receiving £20.
