Of Warkworth, Northumberland, Horsford, Norfolk, and Clavering, Essex. A manuscript genealogy of the founders of Horsham priory, Norfolk names “Rogerum” as the son of “Johannem filium Roberti”, son of “Roberto filio Rogeri”.
Matthew Paris records the death in a 1249 tournament of "quidam de nobilioribus baronibus Borealibus Rogerus filius Johannis" and names his mother "Ada de Bailliol". 1

quondam viri sui ; et mandatum est H. de Wengh' et coescaetori
suo in comitatu Norht' quod de predicto manerio cum pertinenciis
predicte Isabelle plenam seisinam habere faciant, sicut predictum est,
una cum fenis presentis anni de manerio predicto. Teste ut supra.
Manerium de Acclinton' cum pertinenciis, quod fuit ejusdem
Rogeri, et tercia pars foreste de Robur' assignata simt predicte
Isabelle in partem dotis sue ; et mandatum est Thome de Stanford

fuerunt predicti Rogeri in comitatu predicto plenam ei seisinam habere
faciat, salvis Isabelle que fuit uxor predicti Rogeri manerium (sic)
de Acclinton', preter parcum, cum pertinenciis et sex libratis quatuor
solidatis et vij. denariatis et unius (sic) obolata terre, que rex assignari

Grant to William de Valence the king's brother, of the wardship
and marriage of the heirs of Roger son of John for 300 marks, so that he may marry them to whomsoever he will, but without disparagement.
21 Aug 1249, Huntingdon
Grant to him of £40 due to the king in the name of the farm of the manor of Corebrug, late of Roger son of John, during the minority of the heirs of the said Roger, and during this period only it shall be deducted from the yearly fee which William receives at the Exchequer, of 500 marks. And if before their coming of age the mother of the said Roger should die, or either of the two heiresses, the said William shall have the lands assigned to them in dower, and that amount shall be deducted from his said fee of 500 marks. And if the said £40 are to be blanched the said William shall cause them to be blanched at the Exchequer.

Grant to William de Valencia, the king's brother, of the wardship of all the lands late of Roger son of John, extended at £120 19s. 8½d.; and of all the lands which Ada de Bayllol, mother of the said Roger, held in dower of the fee of the said lands, extended at £111 6d.; on condition that these sums be deducted from his fee of 500 marks a year at the Exchequer ; and grant that he may assign this wardship to whomsoever he will if he should die before the full age of the said heirs.
