OBITUARY.

"MR. P. N. MOYLE
ROCKHAMPTON, January 11.

The city was profoundly shocked yesterday morning when it became known that Mr. P. N. Moyle had passed away in the Mater Hospital at an early hour that morning. The late Mr. Moyle had been ill only a short time, and although in the last few days his condition had taken a serious turn, it was not expected that the end was so near. Mr. Moyle was taken ill at Emu Park during the holidays, and it is considered he was affected by the hot weather which prevailed at the time.

The late Mr. Moyle, who was a son of Mr. E. B. Moyle, a very old and faithful servant of the City Council, who was for many years secretary of the Rockhampton District of the Manchester Unity, and who predeceased his son some years ago, was a native of Rockhampton. He was a shining example of the reward attached to close attention to duty and ambition, as he had carried out the duties of superintendent of the Rockhampton branch of the State Insurance Office since it was established here. And he had watched it grow from a small beginning to its present extensive operations, covering a large area in Central Queensland. The Department had great faith in Mr. Moyle. who displayed administrative qualities in a high degree, and his subordinates had the greatest respect for their superior. Mr. Moyle had an early grounding in insurance work, being first employed in the I.O.A. as an accountant, which post he vacated in 1916 to take charge of the local branch of the State Insurance Office.

In public life Mr. Moyle was associated with the Rockhampton Fire Brigade Board and School of Arts Committee, and on the latter body he served a term of two years as hon. treasurer. Societies for the fostering of horticul- ture found in Mr. Moyle a ready worker, and the success of flower shows was in no small measure due to his enthusiasm. His chief hobby was gardening, and his home surroundings bear marked testimony to his skill in this direction. In the musical world Mr Moyle was a well-known figure, and his death will cause a gap in the ranks of the Rockhampton Musical Union, he having been a member of committee and also co-operating in its musical performances. He was a member of the Loyal Victoria Lodge.

The deceased leaves a widow and two young children to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father. Mesdames Fred Stenlake, A. H. Head, and Patrick, are sisters of the deceased, while Mr. A. B. Moyle, of the Shell Co., is a brother...." 4
