In 1914, Eleanor Kate Moyle, nurse, was living in Learmonth.
In 1928 and 1936, Eleanor Kathleen Lakin, home duties, and husband Noel Ernest Lakin, agent, were living at 7 Main Road, Hobart.

Eleanor Kate ("Kathleen") trained to be a nurse in the Learmonth hospital, and by the time of World War I, she was ready to serve in the Australian Army. She enlisted on 29 Jul 1916, and trained for the next four months at the Caulfield Military Hospital. She sailed from Australia on 6 Dec 1916 as a member of the Australian Army Nursing Service and busily attended to her duties on the troopship "Orsova". She disembarked at Plymouth on 17 Feb 1917, and soon proceeded to France. During the rest of the war she worked tirelessly in army field hospitals apart from the two months she was sick - July to September, 1917 - after contracting diphtheria. In 1918 Eleanor Kate was promoted to the rank of Sister. Although the war ended on 11 Nov 1918, there was still much work for the nurses to do so Eleanor nursed the wounded men in the Casualty Clearing Stations in Belgium. She did not leave Europe until March 1919, and then was busy in a London Hospital until sailing for home on the "Konigen Luise", arriving Melbourne on 18 Dec 1920. She was awarded three medals for her war-time services as a nurse:- the British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the Mons Star.
