In December 1829 James Stone was present at the marriage of his brother Robert Amerson Stone to Mary Davis in Landewednack.

In 1841 James Stone, aged 45, born in the county, farmer, and wife Elizabeth, aged 35, born in the county, were living in Longalley, Ruan Minor Cornwall. With them were (son) Richard (6) and (James' mother) Margaret Stone (75), ind[dependent].

In 1851 James Stone, aged 56, born in Ruan Minor Cornwall, farmer of 12 acres, and wife Elizabeth, aged 49, born in Ruan Minor, were living in Long alley, Ruan Minor. With them were children (born in Ruan Minor) Richard (15), James (11), Elizabeth (7) and Margaret (4).

In 1861 James Stone, aged 66, born in Ruan Minor Cornwall, farmer of 11 acres employing 1 labourer, and wife Elizabeth, aged 59, born in Ruan Minor, were living in Long alley, Ruan Minor. With them was son James (21) of Ruan Minor, carter. James' brother, Robert A Stone, and his family, were living nextdoor in Long Alley.
