At the time of the 1901 England Census Bernard V Britcher, age 20 [sic], born in Boughton Monchelsea, gunmaker, was visiting widow Mary Lanford in Maidstone Kent.

On 3 Mar 1909 Bernard Valentine Britcher of Eyre Street, Newbridge, co. Kildare, was fined 10 shillings plus costs (1 shilling sixpence) for trespassing at Curagh Camp, acting as a pedlar without having obtained a certificate. ⁴

In the 1939 Register Bernard V Britcher (b. 14 Feb 1875), licenced victualler's assistant, and wife Edith E Britcher (b. 5 Oct 1883), domestic cook, were living 60 Clissold Road, Stoke Newington, Hackney, London.
