At the time of the 1901 England Census Sarah Mockett, age 46, born in Hellingly, widow, charwoman, was at 8 Hydney Street Eastbourne Sussex. With her were children (born in Eastbourne): Elizabeth (24), domestic cook, Henry T. (22), general labourer, Alexander (21), general labourer, Ada (15), and Ethel (7). Also present was mother-in-law Elizabeth Private (89) of Ringmer, widow.
At the time of the 1911 England Census Sarah Ann Mockett, age 56, born in Hellingly, widow (mother of 9 children, 1 deceased), was at 8 Hydney Street Eastbourne Sussex. With her were son Albert (21), outside luggage porter, daughter Ethel (17), laundry hand.

At the same address were [son] Alexander Mockett (b. 16 Mar 1880), widowed, electrician, [daughter-in-law] Sarah A Mockett (b. 28 Jul 1888), widowed, unpaid domestic duties, [grandson] Henry A Mockett (b. 27 May 1921), greengrocer's errand boy.
