At the time of the 1851 England Census Caroline Akhurst, age 18, born in Bredhurst Kent, was working as a house servant for farmer & merchant Mary Wakely at 20 Moor St., Rainham Kent. Caroline's uncle, Henry Friend Akhurst was farm bailiff for Mrs. Wakely and lived nextdoor.

In Jun 1852 Caroline Akhurst was present at the marriage of her sister Maria Akhurst to William Welch in Old Brompton Kent.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Caroline Hollands, age 37, born in Bredhurst Kent, and husband William Hollands, age 41, born in Upchurch Kent, were living in Frog Farm Lane, Upchurch. With them were children (born in Upchurch): Ellen Elizabeth (9), scholar, John (7), scholar, Henry (5), scholar, and Ann (2).

At the time of the 1881 England Census Caroline Hollonds, age 47, born in Breadhurst Kent, and husband William Hollonds, age 51, born in Upchurch Kent, general lab., were living in Frog Farm, Upchurch.
