  Research Notes:

Adefonsus prolix Didacus sive coniuge mee...Maria...aut filiis nostris” donated “vinia...in territorio Levanense” [Liébana] to Santillana del Mar by charter dated 16 Nov 1021. Although her origin is uncertain, Martínez Sopena highlights that her son Munio Alfonso referred to property inherited from his "abio…Nuño Miréllez", pointing out that, from a chronological point of view, it would be more consistent if he had been Munio´s great-grandfather. This refers to two documents. Firstly, "Monnio Afonso" donated "populatione sub carrera in Uilla Ueica…ego comparavi de domna Maria…et illa serna que fuit de meo abolo Nunno Mirelliz" by charter dated 11 Feb 1042. Secondly, the charter dated 13 Mar 1045 under which "Monio Adefonso, Guter Adefonso, Monio Muniz, Petro Muniz, Osorio Osoriz" donated "quod visabus noster Nunnus Mirelliz construxit monasterium in territorio Bericense…Sancta Lucidia…ipse abius noster Nunnus Murelliz" to Astorga Cathedral.... [It] is probable that María was her father´s daughter by an early marriage. "…Maria comitissa, Munnio Afonso, Guttier Afonso, Garsia Afonso" confirmed the charter dated 24 Feb 1028 under which "Sarrazino presbiter" donated "ecclesia Sancti Iuliani et Baselisse…in villa…Demar" to Sahagún. The absence of her husband implies that he had died before this date. 1
