At the time of the 1891 England Census Kate Message, age 6, born in Little Horsted, scholar, was with her parents in Plashett House, Little Horsted Sussex.

At the time of the 1911 England Census Kate Message, age 26, born in Little Horsted Sussex, single, was with her maternal grandmother Naomi Fiest, age 84, born in South Malling Sussex, widow, in Southdown Villa, Ringmer Sussex.

In the 1939 Register Kate Meetern (b. 17 Apr 1884), unpaid domestic duties, and husband Alfred Meeten (b. 10 Jul 1887), general estate labourer, were living in Trickles Cottages, Ashington, Sussex. At the same address was [Alfred's mother] Alice Meeten (b. 12 Feb 1854), widowed, retired.

WISTON

Funeral of Mrs. A. Meeten.

The funeral took place last Wednesday at All Saints', Buncton, of Mrs. Kate Meeten, wife of Mr. Alfred Meeten, of Trickles Cottages, Wiston. Mrs. Meeten was one of the best known residents of the village. She died at the age of 58 years following a long illness. She was one of the oldest members of the Wiston Women's Institute and she also belonged to the local branch of the Mothers' Union.

Mrs. Meeten is survived by her husband and one son who is serving with the Forces.
