HOW "WIZARD" DIED.
Mr. Maskelyne's Collapse When He Was Rising from Bed.
Death from natural causes was yesterday's Marylebone inquest verdict on Mr. John Nevil Maskelyne (sixty-one), the famous illusionist, found dead in his flat in Langham-place, W.
Captain E. Clive Maskelyne, a son, said on Sunday afternoon his father paid a visit to the Zoological Gardens. The exercise seemed to tire him, and he complained of rheumatic pains.
Miss Mary Maskelyne said that when she went to her father's room with some hot water and a cup of tea, she found him in lying in bed dead.
He was half in and half out of bed, as though he had collapsed in the act of rising.
Dr. J. D. Redding, of Wimpole-street, stated that Mr. Maskelyne had suffered from heart trouble and Bright's disease for a long time. The post-mortem examination showed that death was due to cerebral hemorrhage.
