In 1841 William Lingard, aged about 40, farmer, and wife Ellen, aged about 40, were living in Fotherby, Lincolnshire. Present were children: Mears (15), Sabina (14), Ebenezer (7)

In 1851 William Lingard (50) of Partney, mole catcher, and wife Eleanor (50) of Grainthorpe, were living in Fotherby, Lincolnshire. Present was son John M. (29) of Fotherby, mole catcher.

In 1861 William Lingard (60) of Partney, master bricklayer, occupying 8 acres of land, and wife Ellen (61) of Scartho, were living in Fotherby, Lincolnshire. Present were son John Mears Lingard (39) of Brackenborough, unmarried, assistant brick layer, daughter Sabina Giles (33) of Fotherby, married, dressmaker, granddaughter Eliza Ann Giles (12) of Utterby.
