Richgard VON WEIMAR
- Married:
- Died: Before 1128
Also referred to as Richgard DI CARNIOLA e Istria.
Research Notes:
The Historia Welforum refers to the four daughters of "Sophia ex duce Maginone", specifying that "terciam…duxit dux Maravie, quartam quam Egenhardus comes de Scirin a quodam monaterio…in Ratispona abstulit". It is clear from many other sources that Zsófia and her second husband Magnus of Saxony only had two daughters, Wulfhild and Eilika. It is assumed therefore that the two other daughters referred to were her children by her first marriage with Ulrich of Istria, although the primary source which confirms this clearly has not yet been identified. While there appears to be some confusion in this text, it does clarify that the daughter of Zsófia of Hungary married Graf Ekkehard not his brother Graf Otto, the latter being favoured by Wegener. The primary source which names her has not yet been identified, although the necrology of Undensdorf records the death "XII Kal Jun" of "Wichart coma" which may refer to Richgard. 1
Marriage Information:
Richgard married Gf. Ekkehard VON SCHEYERN, son of Otto I VON SCHEYERN, Count of Middle Paar, and Haziga (Hadagunda) VON SCHEYERN. (Ekkehard VON SCHEYERN died on 20 June, before 1088.)
