Sancha Gómez DE SALDAÑA
- Married: Before Jan 979
- Died: After 983
- Buried: Oviedo, Spain
Research Notes:
Pérez´s history of Sahagún monastery, published in 1782, quotes a document dated 980 in the monastery´s archives which names "Ranimirus Rex sedis Legionensem cum uxore sua Sanctia Regina". The Chronica de Sampiro (interpolated, España Sagrada edition) records that “Ranimirus Rex” married “Urraca” who was buried “Oveti”. According to secondary sources, the wife of King Ramiro III was Sancha Gómez, daughter of Gómez Díaz Conde de Saldaña. The primary source which confirms that this is correct has not yet been identified. 1
Marriage Information:
Sancha married Ramiro III DE LEÓN, King of León, son of Sancho I "el Craso" DE LEÓN, King of León, and Teresa ANSÚREZ, before Jan 979. (Ramiro III DE LEÓN was born about 961 and died in 984 in León, Spain.) |
