At the time of the 1891 England Census Alfey Saunders, aged 29, born in Westham Sussex, and husband Frank Saunders, aged 29, born in Heathfield Sussex, brick and tile maker, were living in Harebeating, Hailsham. With them were children (born in Hailsham): Rosa (6), scholar, Frank (4), and Annie (1). Alfey's brother Samuel Dearing and his family were living nextdoor.
In November 1900 Alpha Saunders was present at the marriage of her sister Lilly Harriet Gravett to Stephen Thomas Shelley in Brighton Sussex.
At the time of the 1901 England Census Alpha Saunders, aged 38, born in Westham Sussex, and husband Frank Saunders, aged 40, born in Waldron Sussex, brick and tile maker, were living in Harebeating, Hailsham. With them were children (born in Hailsham): Rosa (16), general servant, Frank (14), Annie (11), Edith M (9) and (born in Hellingly) Grace (7), Gilbert (3).
At the time of the 1911 England Census Alfey Saunders, aged 48, born in Westham Sussex (mother of 8 children, 1 deceased), and husband of 27 years Frank Saunders, aged 49, born in Mayfield Sussex, tile maker, were living at 4 New Road, Ridge-wood, Uckfield Sussex. With them were children: Frank Amos (24), brick maker (pottery manufacture), Annie (22), Gilbert (13) and Lester (8).
In the 1939 Register Alpha Saunders (b. 8 Dec 1862), widowed, incapacitated, was at 36 Brodrick Road, Eastbourne Sussex.
