In 1619 John was the sole executor and residuary legatee of his father's Will, who also received 6 acres of land that were his father's.
In 1634 John Tayler of Heathfield, youngest son of James Tayler, was the sole executor and residuary legatee of the Will of his uncle Thomas Tayler of Battle who also gave to John his freehold and copyhold messuages, lands and tenements in the parish of Battle, as well as those lands and tenements he purchased from George Bourner of Battle. Additionally he gave to John his lands and tenements in Bexhill in the county of Sussex.
In 1639 John Taylor was the residuary legatee and sole executor of the Will of his late sister Susan Taylor of Heathfield, spinster.
