It is possible that the daughter of Thomas Taylor of Heathfield who married John Akerst was not Agnes but an older sister who died before their father wrote his Will. Agnes's brother, Thomas Taylor of Battle, wrote his Will in 1626, in which he made bequests to his nieces and nephew Agnes Pankhurst daughter of John Akerst, John Akerst son of John Akerst and Sephera Akerst daughter of John Akerst. Agnes Akerst named in the 1575 Will of Thomas Taylor of Heathfield married Nicholas Pankhurst in 1583 in Heathfield, noting that, at some point before 1626, Thomas Tayler of Battle purchased lands, woods, messuages & tenements from Nicholas Pankhurst which in 1626 he bequested to Thomas Tayler, son of his brother John.
In 1575 Agnes's father bequeathes her a russet cassock which was her mother's. Directly following in Thomas's Will he makes a bequest to Agnes Akerst who is evidently a minor at that time. Given Agnes Akerst married toward the end of 1583, she was probably around 18 years old, born about 1565. While not conclusive, it works for the moment to consider Agnes Akerst the daughter of Agnes Taylor by John Akerst who, given the absence of any mention of him in the Will of Thomas Tayler of Heathfield, probably died shortly before 1575. The fact that 'mother and daughter' share the same given name did not go unnoticed.
