In 1838 Samuel Blackman and his brother John Blackman, as tenants in common, received from their father's Will about 45 acres of marshland in Pevensey called Lamphams, along with its stock, crops and effects, as well his farm in Hooe called Hunts, his farm called Doroks containing about 47 acres, his copyhold farm and lands in Hooe called Crowhurst containing about 20 acres, land in Hooe called Bunce also containing about 20 acres, a messuage garden and field in Hooe of about 1¾ acres, the land called Rolfs in Wartling rented from Hartfield parish, the marshland in Bexhill rented from the earl of Chichester, the lands called Brambles in Hooe containing about 60 acres, &c.

At the time of the 1851 England Census Samuel Blackman, aged 32, born in Hooe Sussex, unmarried, was with his brother John Blackman, farmer, in Grove Farm, Hooe.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Samuel Blackman, aged 41, born in Hooe Sussex, unmarried, farmer of 140? acres employing 4 men & 2 boys, was living in Broad S-- Green, Hooe Sussex.

Samuel Blackman of Hastings died aged 49 years (burial record).

The Will of Samuel Blackman formerly of Hove but late of Hastings both in the county of Sussex, gentleman, deceased, who died 24 September 1868 at Hastings aforesaid, was proved 16 October at Lewes by the oath of Robert Deudney of St. Leonard's-on-Sea in the county aforesaid, gentleman, the sole executor. Effects under £4,000. 2
