Eldest son, received £1,000 from his father's Will, along with his father's marshland in Hailsham comprising about 26 acres, a moiety of the dead and live stock, crops, corn and effects on Pelsham Farm in Peasmarsh, the stock, crops and effects on Gibridge Farm in Herstmonceux and Hailsham, and a third part share of the stock, crops and effects on the farm called Holmes in Hooe, Bexhill and Ninfield.
In November 1838 Benjn. Blackman was present at the marriage of his sister Matilda Blackman to Walter Duke in East Peckham Kent.
At the time of the 1841 England Census Benjamin Blackman, aged about 25, farmer, and wife Ellen, aged about 20, were living in Church Road, Herstmonceux Sussex.

THE WHOLE OF THE VALUABLE LIVE AND DEAD FARMING STOCK of the GILLBRIDGE and aforesaid farm, the property of Mr. BENJAMIN BLACKMAN, lately deceased, comprising 14 capital Sussex-bred cows and heifers, four heifer calves, 12 steers and steer calves, five pair of fine Sussex working oxen, three pair of Devon ditto, a pair of large Sussex fatting oxen, three ditto cows, 85 Southdown wethers, two useful cart horses, a well bred three year old bay gelding, by Teddy the Tiler, a three year old dun poney, six large store hogs, three good broad wheel waggons, one narrow ditto, six carts, one light spring ditto, an iron roller, a two horse portable thrashing machine, ploughs, harrows, two wood rollers, 100 wattles, harness, yokes, chains, two poney chaises, and numerous small husbandry implements.
