Writing his Will in March 1836 Benjamin Blackman of Hooe, gent., bequeathed to his daughter Caroline the wife of Robert Deudney £500.
At the time of the 1851 England Census Caroline Deudney, aged 43, born in Hooe Sussex, was visiting her sister Maria Martin and her family in East Peckham Kent.
At the time of the 1861 England Census Caroline Deudney, aged 53, born in Hooe Sussex, and husband Robert Deudney, aged 59, born in St. Leonards Sussex, farmer of 650 acres employing 27 labourers & 6 boys, were living in Gensing Farm, St. Mary Magdalen by Hastings Sussex. With them was daughter Ellen (24) of St. Leonards.
At the time of the 1871 England Census Caroline Deudney, aged 63, born in Hooe Sussex, and husband Robert Deudney, aged 69, born in St. Mary Magdalen Sussex, yeoman, J.P., were living in Upper Maze Hill, Gensing House, St. Leonard by Hastings. With them were grandson Frank Simmons (10) of East Packham Kent, scholar, and visitor Susan Madgwick (31) of Falmer Sussex, unmarried.
