At the time of the 1911 England Census Emily Jane Leng, aged 38, born in Bermondsey London (mother of 1 child), and husband of 19 years James Charles Leng, aged 41, born in Bermondsey London, fancy card edge gilder (wholesale stationery), were living at 7 Vaughan Gardens, Ilford Essex. With them were son Charles William Leng (18) of Bermondsey, mercantile clerk (non-textile manufacturers), Emily's mother Ellen Shuttle (75) of Dover Kent, widow, and Emily's sister Jane Callaway (53) of Minories London, widow.
In the 1939 Register Emily J Leng (b. 22 Jan 1872), unpaid domestic duties, and husband James C Leng (b. 2 May 1869), retired sign writer, were living in Elhanan, Brierley Road, Bournemouth, Hampshire.
