In 1763 Richard Bristed was apprenticed to Grace Swift, cordwainer, in Cousley Wood Sussex (less than 2 miles NE of Wadhurst), for a premium of £8 0s. 0d. 2

Writing his Will in October 1796 Richard Bristed of Warbleton, yeoman, named as a beneficiary his nephew Richard Bristed, son of his late brother Ezekiel Bristed.
