At the time of the 1841 England Census Richard Calloway, aged about 30, schoolmaster, was in Hackney Union Workhouse, Hackney. They were not inmates. With him was son George Calloway (7), Mary Ann Yeowell* (35), schoolmistress, and George Yeowell (6).
* Richard married Mary in the following year.
At the time of the 1851 England Census Richard D Calloway, aged 39, born in Newington Kent, widower, school master, was living in Hackney London. With him were son William (4) of Hackney, and daughter-in-law Caroline Yeowell (20) of Hackney.
At the time of the 1861 England Census Richard Callaway, aged 49, born in Newington Surrey [sic], beer retailer, and wife Mary, aged 49, born in Bermondsey Surrey, were living at 111 Crower? St., St. Pancras Middlesex.
At the time of the 1871 England Census Richard Callaway, aged 59, born in Newington Kent, fishmonger, and wife Mary, aged 59, born in Bermondsey Surry, were living in Fish Shop, 47 Whitney Place, St. Mary Newington London. With them was son William H (24) of Hackney London, fishmonger.
At the time of the 1881 England Census Richard Calloway, aged 70, born in Newington Kent, married, schoolmaster, was in the Christchurch Workhouse, Marlborough Street, Southwark, St Saviour Surrey.
