In 1810 Henry Blackman son of John Blackman deceased received £1,000 from the Will of his cousin* James Bristed of Warbleton, gent.

* 1st cousin twice removed

At the time of the 1841 England Census Henry Blackman, aged 65, farmer, was living in Foul Mile, Warbleton Sussex. With him were farm servants Sophia Pilbeam (55), Elizabeth Holland (17) and ag lab James Daw (18). Henry's brother John Blackman was living nextdoor.

At the time of the 1851 England Census Henry Blackman, aged 75, born in Wartling Sussex, unmarried, farmer of 20 acres employing 1 man, was living in Durrants, Warbleton Sussex. With him were housekeeper Sophia Pilbeam (71) of Burwash, unmarried, and servant Ann Pilbeam (64) of Burwash, unmarried.

In November 1852 Henry Blackman was bequeathed £100 in the Will of his brother John Blackman of Warbleton, gent. Henry died about 15 months before the Will was proved.

Abstract of the Will of Henry Blackman of Warbleton in the County of Sussex, Yeoman, written 3 Jan 1849, proved 29 Nov 1853. 2

Gives £10 to his housekeeper Sophia Pilbeam.

Gives £10 to Ann Pilbeam currently living in his house.

Gives, devises and bequeaths his tenement buildings, farms, lands, hereditaments and real estate, together with all his personal estate and effects, ready money, securities for money, household goods and furniture, livestock and farming effects, to his nephews Henry Chrismas and Thomas Chrismas in Trust, to sell by public auction or private contract, and from the proceeds to pay to the said Henry Chrismas and Thomas Chrismas, and to his niece and nephews Harriet the wife of Edward Davey, Stephen Chrismas and Charles Chrismas, to be equally divided between them.

Appoints the said Henry Chrismas and Thomas Chrismas co-executors of his will.

Witnesses: William Burgess of Warbleton, innkeeper, Benjn Buss of Mayfield, solicitor.

Testator died 4 Jul 1853.

Effects valued under £450.
