In 1749 John and his siblings, as children of John Bristed deceased, were bequeathed £5 each in the Will of their father's cousin Richard Bristed of Warbleton, gent. As John Bristed's children were minors at this time, the money was paid to their uncle Richard Bristed for their use.

In Sep 1779 John Bristead was present at the marriage of his widowed sister Catherine Nicholls to John Callaway in Newington next Sittingbourne Kent.
