Stephen married Sarah Relf, daughter of [John Cottington and] Eliza Relf, on 28 Aug 1858 in Holy Trinity, Maidstone, Kent, England. (Sarah Relf was christened on 13 Jun 1830 in Burwash, Sussex, England.)

  Marriage Notes:

Stephen Akehurst, age 27, bachelor, labourer, resident of Maidstone, son of Jesse Fuller, labourer, and
Sarah Relf, age 29, spinster, resident of Maidstone, daughter of John Cottenden*, labourer

Married after Banns

Witnesses: Edward Ansted, . . . . . . . Wishstead?

* The hand writing leaves much to be desired. It is likely this is John 'Cottington', based on the 1861 and ensuing Censuses during which periods Stephen Akehurst's brothers-in-law were living with them.
