At the time of the 1911 England Census Caroline Ann Pennells, age 39, born in Heathfield Sussex (mother of 10 children, 3 deceased), and husband of 13 years Walter Pennells, age 55, born in Burwash Sussex, farm labourer, were living in Forge Cottages, Burwash Sussex. Present were children: Ivy May (12) of Burwash, school, Annie Elizabeth C. (9) of Burwash, school, Thos. Jas. Walter (8) of Heathfield, school, William Geo. F. HORSMONDEN
DEATH OF MRS. C. A. PENNELLS. — A well-known resident, Mrs. Caroline Ann Pennells, of Rucks Lane, passed away on Monday at the age of 67. Mrs. Pennells, who was formerly a member of the Women's Institute, was the widow of Mr. Walter Pennells, and for many years lived at Remington Farm. She leaves eight children to mourn their loss. The funeral took place at Horsmonden yesterday (Thursday).
