Derby Club Rider was Too Fast, Says Crash Witness
PETER MICHAEL AITCHISON, Derby and District Motor Club nominee who was killed while lying third in the Senior Manx Grand Prix motor-cycle race on Thursday, hit the concrete posts on the mountain fencing during a skid, it was stated at an inquest last night, when a verdict of "Death by misadventure" was returned.
An eye-witness said he thought Aitchison was travelling too fast in the thick mist, which restricted visibility to not more than 20-30 yards.
Medical evidence revealed that Aitchison, who fractured his skull, living for an hour after the crash.
