The coheirs [of Hugh Burnell, 2nd Baron Burnell] were the three daughters of the last Baron's son and h. ap., Edward Burnell, who m. 1stly Alienore, da. of Lord Strange, and 2ndly, Elizabeth, da. of Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk, who was living as his widow 7 July 1421; she m. 2ndly, circa 1425, Sir Thomas Kerdeston and d. before Apr. 1440

Hugh married Elizabeth --------- before 1370. They had one son, Edward.
He succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Burnell on 19 January 1382/83.
He held the office of Governor of Bridgnorth Castle in 1386.
On 29 September 1399 he was one of the Lords who received the abdication of King Richard II in the Tower of London.
He held the office of Governor of Montgomery Castle in November 1401.
He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) circa 1406.
Hugh's 2nd wife, Joyce, died 1 Jan 1406/7 and was buried in Hales Abbey, Shropshire.
Hugh married as his 3rd wife Joan Devereux, widow of Walter Fitz Walter, Knt., daughter of John Devereux, K.G., 1st Lord Devereux. Joan was born c.1380 (age 17 in 1397). Hugh and Joan had no children.
Hugh left a Will dated 2 Oct 1417, requesting burial in the choir of Halesowen Abbey near the body of Joyce, his 2nd wife.
