In 1331 following the death of Edmund Peverel, an Inquisition Post Mortem was taken. In regard to Edmund's Lincoln holdings, "a writ of certiorari, on the complaint of Thomas, son of Robert de Aspale, that the escheator had taken into the king's hand, with other lands &c. which were of Edmund Peverel, the manor of Southall in Scalleby, which the said Thomas's father gave him during the life of the said Edmund, 23 January, 5 Edward III.
